I just finished Teddy's new Hand-Made Crib

Here is the crib I just made for my son Teddy, who will be here in about a month. In the second month of my wife's pregnancy, I started researching baby cribs. Two things came up, the first was that most cheap baby cribs are full of toxins that could hurt my baby. The second thing I noticed is that I loved all the uber expensive, modern cribs that cost in excess of $4000 and up. So, I began researching and noticing the things I loved about different cribs, then designed and built what you see here. 8 months into Angelina's pregnancy and I am finally done. It is made up of several species of wood to give it a fun and earthy tone. All made by hand, with dowels and dovetail joints. It is my masterpiece, thanks to an abundance of inspiration.

A Timelapse Based on Commitment

My friends Lee and Rob got hitched. It was an amazing day filled with incredible people. The folks you surround yourself with are a testament to who you are, and Lee and Rob are clearly pretty special. I created this for them so that they can see their day from a different perspective. They ate it up like dessert. Enjoy

Poopypants, The Chicken

Poopypantsthechicken_web

On a recent shoot, I had the pleasure of meeting Poopypants, the Chicken. Poopypants is gorgeous, with a pearlescent colored body and as regal as an animal can be. The name however could throw you off. That is, until you find out that poopypants is the pet of a 3 year old little boy. Ahemmm, when you are 3, it makes total sense!

Arapaho National Forest, Painting the Night

Arapahotriangleblue_web

After a recent photo shoot in Denver, I took a couple days to commune with nature in the Arapaho National Forest. With my friend Lee Buchsbaum, we lit up the forest and river near our campground and created this photograph. All told, it took about a half hour to expose the trees, water, and the stars you see streaming in the background. It was a very "Alive" kind of experience, I'm just glad we didn't fall into the frigidly cold water or get eaten by bears. Enjoy.

Colorado Night Sky Time-Lapse

Check out this amazing night sky time-lapse I created while camping in the Arapaho National Forest in Colorado this past week. It took about 6-7 hours of shooting and my battery died quickly because of the cold, but it was worth it. It is incredible how many stars the camera can see vs. how many stars the human eye can see. Check out how many shooting stars you can spot. Enjoy!

Our newest addition, Ella

Baby_ella_small

When it rains, it pours. Many of you know that my wife and I are 15 weeks pregnant. But what you may not know is that her sister beat us to the punch. About 3 weeks ago, she had Baby Ella. Ella is adorable! This past week I got the opportunity to make some photographs of Baby Ella, and I'd like to share with you. Enjoy!

Never Judge a Location by it's Cover

Recently, I was on a shoot in Chicago. The software engineer from Ebay responsible for developing Ebay Mobile had flown in from San Francisco for the shoot and some meetings with the agency that hired me. I got there a day early to scout some locations and while I was scouting, I got a call that said, "we really need you to shoot at our building to save time." That was not what I wanted to hear as a photographer. While their offices were great, the building was miserable, something straight out of a 70's police drama. When I am granted a challenging situation, I do what I always do, I assess my options and make a difficult situation into one that stands out as an achievement that defy's all odds. That was indeed the case with this shoot. Take a look at what I had to work with in the location snapshot, then check out the beautiful portrait I made of Angie Ruan. From the moment I met her, I said to myself, "I want to capture how elegant this person is," and that moment was achieved within minutes of starting our shoot. Thanks to Angie for being such an amazing subject, and to Judy Lane for being such an advocate of my work.

Earthdance Farms Video, Oldest Organic Farm in Saint Louis

I recently had the pleasure of doing a video of Molly Rockamann and Earthdance Farms. Molly is the "hoola-hooping farmer from Ferguson" and she loves to sing and dance. She also has an impressive repertoire of tasty organic vegetables to share with the world. And for those of you that want to learn to become organic farmers, Earthdance has an apprentice program made exclusively for you. Go to: http://www.earthdancefarms.org/ and check out their page. Go to "Get Involved" at the top of the page to find out more about becoming an apprentice. For those of you who prefer a more hands-off approach but still love food and want to support the local food effort, consider taking part in Farmers Formal on November 5, location is yet to be decided. A flyer will go out in about a week. Keep an eye on the Earthdance website for more details. The event promises great food, music and dancing as well as a live auction, benefits to support the efforts of Earthdance. DeWeese Photography will have an image in the auction, so come by and enjoy the fun!
